Because the research was done using what teenagers posted in the reading platform Wattpad, a social reading site, researchers could look at what young people currently posted. The researchers looked at different types of reading and writing by teenagers around the world as well as how they used what they read in their writing based on their postings in Wattpad. I was pleased, but not surprised, to read that the research found that young people were reading not only youth literature but also classic literature and became emotionally involved in their reading and writing.
