Places visited
I got to visit with Taran and a friend for an afternoon at their house. The weather was beautiful so we were able to play outside all afternoon. We took walks, rode on bikes, played in sand, talked and generally had a wonderful time. Before their parents left for a parent-teacher conference, we all had a delicious picnic lunch that Rachel made. It was a lovely day that I enjoyed very much!
I went to a talk at the Chester (NY) library given by the site manager of Fort Montgomery, Grant Miller. Hearing the history of the fort and viewing the slides was interesting and just as interesting were the asides that Mr. Miller talked about. For example, he explained how the events of the past related to what is happening today. I enjoyed the talk very much and learned a lot.
Brain, Bea, Noah, and Vivy and I met at Sandy Hook State Park in New Jersey. This park used to be a fort and now is part of the National Park Service lands. It is big with wonderful sand beaches. When we met, we had a delicious picnic that Bea made. Then we visited two of the beaches, one on the bay side and one on the ocean side. We went to the lighthouse and although we couldn't go in the lighthouse itself, we did get to see the museum that used to be the lighthouse keeper's home. In addition, a house was open and set up the way it would have looked when the fort was used during World War II. There was also a missile open house that showed the missile command center there. The weather was warm and the day was wonderful!
For Thanksgiving, I got to spend the day with Rachel, Jon, Taran and a friend. We had a delicious Thanksgiving lunch and conversation. The boys and I got to read books and play inside and outside. It was a lovely day!
I also visited Brian, Bea, Noah and Fifi for Thanksgiving. We had a delicious Thanksgiving lunch and conversation. We looked at family photos and played games. It was a great day!
I got to spend one evening with Taran and a friend. We played games, did puzzles, ate, and read books before bedtime. We had a lot of fun!
