August 2022

Places Visited
Rachel, Jon, Taran, and a friend came for an overnight stay one weekend.  It was wonderful to see and visit with them, to share a meal, play with toys, and read books!

Brian, Bea, Noah, and I took a trip to upstate New York for a week. We stopped in Lake George to eat lunch at the Moose Tooth and walk around the town.  It was an especially delicious lunch, a band was playing in the park, and we enjoyed the water at a beach on Lake George.  We then went on to Plattsburgh where we stayed at a very nice Days Inn.
The second day of the trip we went to Ausable Chasm where we walked on the trails and took a float ride.  It was a hot day but the trail was shaded and it was very interesting to view the chasm from different heights.  The raft guide, Jack, was knowledgeable and very helpful.  We then went back to the motel for a little rest and then to the close-by City Beach.  It was a very long, sandy beautiful beach. Noah and I had ice cream on the way back to the motel.  It was a great summer's day.
We spent the third day at Fort Ticonderoga which was great. We took an informational boat ride, then visited the fort.  Next, we walked around the gardens and the last thing we did there was drive up a mountain with a great view of the fort and the area.  After a picnic there we drove to Burlington, Vermont.  On the way we stopped for sweet corn at a roadside souvenir store and later for a creemee, which turns out to be ice cream with a higher fat content.  It was delicious, especially the maple flavored creemee.  In Burlington, we stayed at Homewood Suites with was a great hotel.
We went to a children's museum on the fourth day that was filled with hands-on activities.  We then took a boat ride around Lake Champlain followed by a walk in downtown Burlington. It was a very enjoyable day!
On our last day, stopped on our way home at a farmer's stand for blueberries and then at Kings Pizza in Kingston, New York.  It was a marvelous trip!
