Places Visited
My mother, one of our relatives, and I went to the Goshen (NY) Plaza Diner and the Bright Star Diner in Central Valley, New York.
My mother, a relative and I went to Nashville. We left from Stewart International Airport on Northwest Airlines, flew to Detroit, then landed in Nashville. We stayed at the Fairfield Nashville, which was wonderful! Our first meal in Nashville was at the Caney Fork Fish Camp Nashville. It was a big meal and restaurant was an interesting experience!
The second day we went to the Country Music Hall of Fame in downtown Nashville. Afterwards we ate at a window table on the second floor of The Merchant's Restaurant. At night we went to see A Tribute to the King Thru the Years 1953 to 1977. This show was held at the Texas Troubadour Theatre. It rained very hard and the temperature was in the 40's. It got windy in the afternoon. That's why we choose inside activities.
On the third day, we went to Ryman Auditorium. This is where the Grand Ole Opry was held until 1974. Then we went to the Upper Room. We saw the Upper Room, with its life size woodcarving of the Last Supper, the museum, and the souvenir shop. We had lunch at Alabama Grill, at the mall near the Grand Ole Opry. Next we went to the Grand Ole Opry Museum. It was great! Lastly, we went to the Grand Ole Opry where we heard Porter Wagoner, Connie Smith, Buddy Jewell, Bill Anderson, Del McCoury Band, Terri Clark, and Jimmy Dickens.
The fourth day we visited the Hermitage, the home of President Andrew Jackson. We ate at the Hermitage House Smorgasbord in Hermitage, Tennessee, where the food was delicious and we ate a lot! After that we went to the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. There were gardens with trees, bushes, blooming flowers, and a river complete with a boat ride under a glass roof. Since this is also a resort and convention center there were a variety of restaurant and shops.
The fifth day we were in Nashville, we went to the Parthenon. There was a museum there that told about the Parthenon, the myths represented on it, and the history of the Parthenon in Nashville. We then went to Belle Meade Plantation where we ate in the café. Then we took the guided tour threw the mansion which was both entertaining and informative. Lastly we went to Opry Mills Mall, walked around a little, then drove to Pizza Hut for a pizza which we took back to the condo to eat it.
The whole trip was great and we all had a wonderful time!
