I appreciate that this research was done and I found the results interesting. There was not much about how this affects teachers beyond the acknowledgement that the teens we teach don't use social media the same way as their adult teachers.

I like the ideas in this article because they are developmentally sound and they are similar to other methods of thinking about children's activities, including the Montessori method. It is especially useful for parents, I think, since it realistically tells the experiences of a mother when implementing the method of having children do useful work around the house.

However, the study also says that American confidence in teachers is at a low points and many parents do not want their children to be teachers.
Sometimes I hear teachers tell parents what an easy job teaching is and how little work it requires. As open house time approaches, we may want to think about how what we say sounds to the parents. Of course we love teaching but that doesn't mean we don't work at learning to be exemplary teachers.
