Places Visited
I ate lunch with Karen at Barnaby's in New Paltz, New York. It was nice to visit with her and she also helps solve some of my tech issues!
Derek and I visited a man he works with and his wife in their restored home, New York. They had done a great deal of work on the house and it looks beautiful! We also had lunch with them at the Duanesburg Diner & Restaurant In Duanesburg, New York.
My mother and went to Clifton Park, New York and visited Derek and Rachel. We watched slides of Rachel, Brian and Bea's trip to Hawaii and then at lunch at the Panera Bread Company.
Derek and I went to Watkins Glen State Park in Watkins Glen, New York and walked on each path! We stayed at the Best Western Marshall Manor in Horseheads, New York. The hotel was fine but the best thing about it was the restaurant in front of it, Yee Olde Hickory House. The chef there has made Chinese dishes for over 36 years and makes everything from scratch. It was delicious!
While we were in the area, we visited the National Soaring Museum in Elmira, New York. In addition to the museum, we saw the runway where the gliders take off. The view from there was extraordinary!
We also found Mark Twain's burial site, also in Elmira. Other members of his family, through today, are buried in the plot also.
We stopped at the Commerce Center, a large shopping area near Elmira on the way back to the motel and dinner.
On our way home, we stopped at the National Warplane Museum at the Wings of Discovery Center in Horseheads. We were lucky to be there on the day of the Aviation Open House so we not only saw the museum but also the hanger where planes are being restored and the additional planes brought in for the day. Plus we were able to visit for free:)
Derek and I went to Bridgewater to have lunch and talk with one of our relatives at Chipotle.
