Places Visited
My mother has moved to my house from Helen Hayes now. Yeah!
I spent the weekend in Saratoga Springs with my daughter. We took a walk through the Saratoga Spa State Park. Because it was late when I got there, the buildings were closed but we got to see how big they were and we walked on a short path that was designed to enhance the habitat of the Blue Butterfly, an endangered species. What we saw, however, were a lot of people walking their dogs. It was an interesting walk. We then went to Wheatfields where you can see them making bread in the window and they also make their own pasta. I had vegetable lasagna with big chunks of fresh vegetables. It was delicious.
The second day we walked a 4.2 mile trail and drove a 9 mile auto tour of the Saratoga National Historical Park. Since it was a lovely day the views were great and it was an easy walk. After the walk we were very hungry so stopped at Saratoga Apples and had a hot cider donut, freshly made. Well, actually, more than one because they were so good! We walked around the Wilton Mall, then went on to the Olde Bryan Inn which dates back to 1787. The atmosphere was enhanced by real wood burning in the fireplace and stone and brick walls. We had a delicious meal!
