December 2018

Places Visited
I stayed with Derek while he had an operation and several emergency room visits.
While there, I got to have breakfast with Rachel and Taran, which was a welcome happy break.  We then went to the Via Aquarium at the Rotterdam Mall in Schenectady, NY.  It was fun to go with them and to watch Taran as he discovered new things to see there.
I went additional times to see Derek as he moved and recovered from his operation.

The day before Christmas, I met Jon, Rachel and Taran at Café Madison in Albany New York for breakfast.  It was a cute café with delicious food.  It was wonderful to see them and have a marvelous experience with them before Christmas.

On Christmas Day, I was once again fortunate to have my mother as well as my children and their families, come to my home for Christmas.  My children and their families did the cooking this year, which turned out wonderful!  I am so grateful to have such a caring family.

On the day after Christmas, as part of my Christmas present from Jon and Rachel, I got to go to National Geographic  Encounter and Gulliver's Gate with Rachel and Taran.  They were great and I hadn't known about either of them.  The first show, National Geographic Encounter, had a different type of underwater adventure in each room.  It was an exciting and educational experience.  Between the two experiences, we ate at Red Poke in the Times Square area.  It was also a different type of adventure.  Each person marks what they want on a menu, orders and pays for it.  You can watch them make your dish if you wish.  It comes fast, is as spicy as you choose,. and is delicious!  After we ate, we went to Gulliver's Gate which had detailed miniatures in seven different rooms.  The miniatures were extraordinarily detailed.  We spent a couple of hours there and could have spent multiple days looking at the world in miniature, including New York City, Latin America, the Middle East Asia, an Alaskan Airport, etc.  It was amazing!  In fact,. the whole day was marvelous!
