This isn't necessarily different than what is being done in classrooms at the universities where I teach but I liked that the process was broken down into specific steps with examples. I have used all of these strategies in my classroom and, like the author, have found they create a positive learning environment in the classroom. While they promote social emotional learning, they also are important classroom management techniques. Heavy use in this study was considered to be more than seven hours a day of screen time for 9-10 year-olds. This made me think of the time children work on or view screens at school added to the time they may use screens (TV, smartphones, etc.) at home. This is an aspect of screen time that teachers and parents need to be aware of during the school hours and also when assigning homework.
