December 2003
Places Visited
Derek, my mother and I went to Commodor Chocolate in Newburgh. After shopping we to Johnny D's for lunch.
My family and I went shopping at the Palisades Mall and had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory.
Rachel, my mother and I went for lunch at Mohonk Mountain House, a National Hisoric Landmark in New Paltz, New York. The Mountain House is a turreted seven-story architectural structure that stretches nearly an eighth of a mile along Lake Mohonk. It is located in the Shawangunk Mountains, near the top of Shwnagunk Ridge. Lake Mohonk is a half-mile long, 60-foot deep freshwater lake. The Mountain House is one of the last great 19th-century mountain resorts. The Victorian character of the House has been preserved throughout, with beautifully carved woodwork, period furnishings, and cozy fireplaces found in many hallways and parlors. The Mountain House is full of nooks and alcoves for reading, relaxing or chatting. Because we went on a cold, windy December day, we enjoyed the buffet and mainly looked around inside the house. The food was delicious and the view from the dining room was spectacular! The House was decorated with pointsettas, gingerbread houses, and other decorations made from things found in nature. We did go outside to see the large outdoor skating rink in the Pavilion.
Books Read

Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
