How to Raise a Motivated Reader: https://blog.highlights.com/aha/how-raise-motivated-reader
This blog from Highlights magazine explains the reasons why offering rewards for reading a certain number of pages or a certain length of time are not effective in creating motivated readers. It also provides some ideas for parents to help children enjoy reading. Our Students' Questions Should Be a Top Priority: https://www.middleweb.com/37732/our-students-questions-should-be-a-top-priority/
I like this article for two reasons. First it included references for possible reasons why students stop asking as many questions when they enter school. Second, it provides ideas for keeping students asking questions in the classroom. I liked this article for several reasons. One is that it is two charts so therefore can be quickly read and understood. Lastly, it helpful to have general genre's listed for easy access. A Little Prep Goes a Long Way: https://www.edutopia.org/article/little-prep-goes-long-way
"A bit of logistical work in the classroom can help new teachers wrap up for summer--and ease the back to school crunch as well." I particularly like this article because, through experience, I have found that I have a much more relaxed summer if I plan as much as possible at the end of one year for the beginning of the next year. While school districts make sometimes make unexpected changes, I still benefit from the work I have done at the end of the year. In addition, I involve students who wish to help. I have discovered that students not only enjoy helping me with sorting, labeling, etc., they also benefit by being part of these preparations. It helps them at least think about what they can do to make the beginning of their next school year successful.
