"Curiosity is underemphasized in the classroom, but research shows that it is one of the strongest markers of academic success."
I have noticed this also in classrooms I have observed. In addition, however, often the children how are the most curious are the ones who have more classroom disciplinary issues than other students it seems to me. Perhaps we like to have students follow directions rather than try ideas new to them because of time, classroom management, or other factors despite wanting to have a project-based or other type of active classroom.
