Places Visited
Brian, Noah and I went apple picking at Masker's Orchards in Warwick, New York. We had a wonderful time eating apples and sandwiches that Bea made. The view was lovely, and the weather was perfect. We then went to Middletown, New York, where we stayed at the Hampton Inn. On the way we stopped at Target in the Gallery Mall in Middletown to get an Exploding Kittens card set which played at the hotel. It was great fun. Afterwards, we went to the nearby Olive Garden for dinner. It was perfect as always. We had breakfast together the next morning before both of us going home. It was marvelous to see and talk with them!
On my way home, I visited Quest Financial in Goshen, New York and my mother's grave in Monroe, New York. Both were a satisfying experience.
I stopped at McWaters Park in North Bennington, Vermont to see Henry Bridge, a covered bridge, and the spot where the group that later became known as the Green Mountain Boys helped start the state for Vermont.
One day I took a drive to Saratoga Springs, New York to do some shopping at Wolberg Lighting Design and Electrical Supply. It gave me a chance to enjoy the lovely autumn leaves and to get a light for my dining room. I enjoyed the day.
I also drove there a second day which was also a warm, sunny autumn day. On the way, I stopped at Lock 4 of the Erie Canal System in Stillwater, New York. The short walk I took along the lock was beautiful. This was a great place to visit!
Jon, Rachel, Taran and I met at Ted's Fish Fry in Troy, New York, for a great lunch one day and then drove to Engelke Farm where we looked at and fed the animals, took a hayride, walked through the corn maze, enjoyed hot apple cider donuts and apple cider, enjoyed the fall leaves and talking together. It was a wonderful fall day!
I attended the Podcast Symposium in the CAPA (Center for the Advancement of Public Action) building at Bennington College. where Peabody winning journalists discussed investigative journalism and the ways to make powerful storytelling podcasts. It was quite interesting, the lunch was delicious, and I got to see in person some of the people who make podcasts I listen to.
I also spent an interesting morning at the Bennington Museum, a welcoming museum that showcases the history of Vermont and especially Bennington. The museum has all types of collections in various well organized and spacious galleries, including the works of Grandma Moses and the one-room school she attended. I liked to see and read about the artifacts in the museum. Outside I walked on The Geroge D. Aiken Wildflower Trail and Hadwen Woods. It was perfect for a fall loop walk with a marvelous view at the top.
