Places visited
One of my Christmas presents was to go on a weekend trip to New York City with Rachel and Taran. On the way, we stopped at the Daily Planet Diner in Lagrangeville, New York for very good dinner. We stayed at the Highbridge Hotel in the Bronx which was a very nice hotel. From our room we could see the subway and there was a good breakfast each morning. On Saturday we took that subway to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to see the train show which was something I have wanted to do for a long time. Rachel got the earliest tickets possible so it was not crowded when we were there. That let us see everything easily. It was marvelous. After the train show we walked through the rest of Botanical Gardens then took the Gardens tram to a second subway stop. On the way, we stopped for lunch at Steven Restuarant which was delicious and the people help helped us choose a family style Latin American lunch to share. After eating, we got on the subway to go to the Natural History Museum in Manhattan. It was an interesting experience as always. After taking the subway back to our hotel, we stopped the Food Universe supermarket.
On the way home the next day, we stopped at the West Point Museum and Visitor's Center in Highland Falls, New York. We enjoyed the visit even with the closing of part of the museum due to renovations. We then stopped at the Plattekill service area on the New York Thruway for lunch.
It was a wonderful weekend seeing the sights with them!
