Theoretical Foundations of
Reading
The purpose of this course is to understand the theories behind the reading process and how reading research influences teaching. You are expected to summarize and share journal articles that connect with the reading we will do in the textbook and on Blackboard. In addition, you will apply the research to classroom practice and participate in a classroom observation. A final paper will be written that explains your personal theory of reading based on the research.
This is the website that I created for this course, which I am teaching in Summer Session 1 of 2007 at SUNY New Paltz.
